Monday, 8.11.03: Went to Bjork at Hollywood Bowl. The sunset was tremendous. The clouds formed a unique pattern whose edges were tinged with the fiery orange of the setting sun. 7:30 showtime with two opening acts then Bjork finally came on at 9:30PM! She was fancy fresh as usual. Her simulation of dancing was more like a child fooling around by her mother's side in some shopping line but her voice was impeccably her. The Icelandic Octet that accompanied her was fantastic. As she pranced in front of the octet, I couldn't help but feel slight embarrassment when I started imagining what they might be thinking as their classical career arc put them up at some sold-out pop concert when they could barely get 300 people to watch them perform Dvorak. "Zhank-hew", Bjork would meekly say after each set. You're welcome!

Woke up around 9am. Nori curled at my legs. Went to gym and whaled on the bag for awhile then came home hungry. No call from Jonathan yet (his b-day related activity was scheduled for today) so decided to get lunch in Lil Tokyo. Turns out it was Nissei Festival and a parade route was imminently being carved out as tow trucks on 2nd St. were towing over 4-6 cars. The vibe surrounding this was stressful so we ducked into a sushi restaurant immediately and I had fab fish for an hour. Saba, spanish mackeral, hamachi, unagi, a spicy tuna hand roll and tamago to finish things off. S. had hamachi kama. Nice cut. All the fish seemed to melt in your mouth. Minimal rice in the sushi which is a good thing. We were the only customers. After dallying around Lil Tokyo (LT) a bit, ended up watching some LA Taiko troupe in the courtyard of the JA Theatre bldg. Nice. Very hot day thought and I felt trickles of sweat behind my head and down my back which made me uncomfortable. Perhaps I had a mild heat stroke. Tried to beat out of there before 4PM when the parade was to begin. Not into watching the District Attorney and Fire Marshall strut down a street that was cleared of cars to fill the coffers of the city's parking department. Well, maybe it wasn't so malicious in intent but my experience of other city's policy of dealing w/ parking violations has made me cynical at best.

How quaint I actually followed through w/ one of my meandering trails from thought to execution: I read in eWeek about blogs and then visit the site to create my blog and write dribble. Dear online diary, today I discoverd the joys of bloggery... et cetera. What does it mean when you find yourself droll?

BTW, if you're reading this S. and you are confused about the concept of blogs, just think of it as posting stuff to the internet to no one in particular. It's like a conversation to yourself that might be publicly accessible. Or an online diary and scratch pad digitally stored in some remote server in the ether of the internet.
